Did you know that you can wire up a webcam to a telescope (or binoculars) to take snapshots of the night sky? The Logitech (aka Connectix) black and white QuickCam allows long exposures (up to an hour), although thermal noise tends to ruin any images after exposures of more than a couple of seconds. Various cooling methods are possible, from low-vibration fans to Peltier cooling devices.
